KAWIT, Cavite — Supporters of former Senator Bong Revilla Jr. gathered at the historic Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite, to hold a prayer rally on February 8, 2026, ahead of the former lawmaker’s scheduled arraignment at the Sandiganbayan on February 9. The rally was organized to express solidarity and call for justice amid Revilla’s ongoing legal battle over alleged malversation of public funds and falsification of public documents, connected to a P92.8-million flood control project in Bulacan.

During the event, Cavite Representative Lani Mercado-Revilla, wife of the former senator, voiced heartfelt gratitude to the supporters while emphasizing the emotional toll that the case has taken on their family. “In this extremely challenging time, we draw strength from your unwavering support,” she said, underscoring that the continued prayers and solidarity of Caviteños serve as a pillar of strength for Revilla.

Rep. Mercado-Revilla described the ordeal as painful and frustrating, asserting that the accusations are not a result of wrongdoing but rather a flawed system that allows injustice to occur. She further noted that despite advice to avoid criticism or retreat, Revilla has chosen to confront the allegations with courage and dignity. “He surrendered his honor and freedom because he knows—the truth is on his side,” she affirmed.

The rally also highlighted the broader societal discourse on the intersection of justice, public opinion, and due process. While rallies and public support cannot influence judicial decisions, they underscore the role of civic engagement in demanding transparency and fairness from the justice system. As prayers echoed across Aguinaldo Shrine, the question remains: to what extent can public solidarity and faith support the pursuit of justice without compromising the impartiality of the legal system?
