MARCH 13, 2026 — Good news for Filipino food lovers! Two homegrown restaurants have proudly landed spots on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2026 extended list. Makati’s Celera made its debut at No. 100, while the ever-celebrated Toyo Eatery secured No. 71.
This recognition comes just months after the Michelin Guide officially launched in the Philippines, awarding both Celera and Toyo Eatery one star each. It’s a milestone moment — proof that Filipino cuisine is not only thriving locally but also gaining international respect.
Toyo Eatery, led by chef Jordy Navarra, has long been a flagbearer of modern Filipino dining. Last year, it ranked No. 42 on the main list, won the Gin Mare Art of Hospitality Award, and was named “Best Restaurant in the Philippines” for the sixth time. Its continued presence on the extended list shows that Filipino flavors remain firmly on the global radar.
Celera’s entry, meanwhile, is a fresh triumph. As one of 12 new additions to the extended list, it signals that more Filipino restaurants are stepping into the spotlight. With its Michelin star and now this recognition, Celera is helping expand the narrative of what Philippine dining can be.
Other Michelin-starred establishments in the country include Asador Alfonso, Gallery by Chele, Hapag, Inato, Kasa Palma, Linamnam, and Helm — the latter being the only Filipino restaurant awarded two stars. Together, they form a growing constellation of local talent shining across Asia’s culinary map.
Across the region, Seoul led the extended list with seven restaurants, while Bangkok followed with five. Beijing’s Chef 1996 debuted at No. 52, and Kuala Lumpur’s Dewakan made the biggest leap, climbing 22 spots to No. 62.
The competition is fierce, but the Philippines is clearly holding its own.
With the main Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2026 list set to be revealed on March 25 in Hong Kong, all eyes are on how far Filipino cuisine can go.
Isn’t it about time the world fully embraced the richness of Filipino flavors?
