LUCENA CITY — January 13, 2026. Authorities said the incident happened on Sunday inside the Dalahican Fish Port Complex in Barangay Dalahican. The victim, a woman selling dried fish (“tuyo”), was confronted by her neighbor who allegedly harbored resentment over a long-standing land dispute. CCTV footage captured the suspect approaching the vendor, pointing at her, and then suddenly stabbing her multiple times in broad daylight.
Police investigators revealed that the victim sustained stab wounds to her shoulder, arm, neck, face, head, and abdomen. Several bystanders attempted to intervene, but the suspect continued the assault until the woman collapsed. Witnesses immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed she was in critical condition but later stabilized.
According to reports, the violent attack stemmed from a dispute over property rights and right-of-way issues between the families. “Investigators revealed that the violent attack was motivated by a long-standing land dispute regarding a right-of-way in their neighborhood,” police said. The suspect fled the scene after the stabbing but was later identified through CCTV footage and witness accounts. Authorities are now conducting a manhunt to apprehend the suspect.
The Quezon Provincial Police condemned the incident, stressing that disputes should be settled legally and peacefully. They reminded residents that resorting to violence not only endangers lives but also leads to serious criminal charges. The suspect is expected to face charges of frustrated homicide or attempted murder once arrested.
The case has sparked concern among locals in Lucena, particularly vendors and residents of the fish port complex, who fear for their safety amid unresolved neighborhood disputes. Police have increased patrols in the area and urged the public to report any suspicious activities to prevent similar incidents.
As of Tuesday, the victim remains under medical care and is being closely monitored by doctors. Her family has appealed for justice and called on authorities to ensure the suspect is held accountable.
