CEBU CITY, Philippines — February 17, 2026. The Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO-7) is considering revoking the driver’s license of a motorcycle rider who went viral for performing a dangerous “Superman” stunt along the Transcentral Highway.

Authorities identified the rider as Kyle Econas, who was summoned after photos and videos of him lying flat on his motorcycle while speeding circulated widely on social media. The stunt, which involved improper sitting and reckless maneuvers, reportedly led to a collision with another motorcycle, further raising concerns about road safety.

LTO-7 issued a show-cause order against Econas, stressing that his actions endangered both motorists and pedestrians. “These acts endangered the lives and property of motorists and pedestrians. The stunts demonstrated an attitude that disregards the recommended behavior expected of drivers,” the agency said in its statement.

Officials confirmed that Econas’s license has already been suspended pending investigation, and revocation is being seriously considered. The agency emphasized that such reckless behavior on public roads will not be tolerated, especially along accident-prone areas like the Transcentral Highway.

The incident has sparked debate online, with many netizens criticizing the rider’s disregard for safety while others called for stricter enforcement of traffic laws. LTO reiterated its commitment to promoting responsible driving and warned that similar violations could result in severe penalties, including permanent loss of driving privileges.

This case highlights the growing role of social media in exposing traffic violations and the government’s push to hold erring motorists accountable for endangering public safety.
