ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — February 17, 2026. Police have identified the driver of slain businesswoman Maria Teresa “Tess” Mamac as a person of interest in the case, following the discovery of her body inside the family compound after she went missing for four days.
Mamac, 59, was the widow of the late Barangay Balibago chairman Rodelio “Tony” Mamac. Her remains were found buried near a pig pen on the property, just a few steps away from the driver’s house. Authorities said the suspicious excavation raised questions about how the burial was carried out.
“Most likely may butas na po ‘yun kasi impossible kang makapaghukay ka ng ganun kalalim within a span of one hour,” Angeles City Station 4 commander Police Major Ronan James Eblahan explained.
Investigators are now focusing on the family’s longtime driver, who has not been located since Mamac’s disappearance. Police believe his proximity to the burial site and his sudden absence make him a key figure in the ongoing probe.
The case has shocked Pampanga residents, with many expressing grief and outrage over the brutal killing of Mamac, a well-known figure in the community. Local officials, including Pampanga 1st District Representative Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr., earlier offered a reward for information when Mamac was still missing.
Authorities assured the public that they are pursuing all leads to bring justice to Mamac’s family. The investigation continues as police work to track down the driver and determine his involvement in the crime.
This development underscores the importance of thorough investigations in cases involving prominent community members, as well as the need for vigilance in ensuring accountability for those entrusted with close personal ties.
