STA. CRUZ, Laguna — February 17, 2026. A Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman from Barangay Bubukal, Sta. Cruz, Laguna has drawn heavy criticism online after a video showed him touching siopao and hotdogs with his bare hands inside a convenience store.
The official, identified as Mark Adrian Napiza, was seen in the viral clip handling the food items without using the tongs provided. In the video, Napiza remarked, “Malamig lahat,” while touching the siopao and hotdogs on display. Netizens quickly condemned the act as unhygienic, calling it “nakakadiri” and “ang baboy,” with many expressing concern over the potential health risks of such behavior.
Napiza later issued a public apology after the backlash, admitting that his actions were inappropriate. “Unang una po, inaamin ko na ang aking naging kilos sa nasabing video ay hindi tama at hindi po nararapat, kahit na ito po ay ginawa ko lamang bilang biro na parte ng aking video content kasama ng aking mga kaibigan at walang anumang hangad na masamang intensyon,” he said in a statement. He added that he regretted the incident and assured the public it would not happen again.
The incident has sparked discussions about the responsibilities of youth leaders and the importance of setting a good example in public. Health advocates also reminded the public that food safety protocols exist to protect consumers, and violations of these standards can lead to contamination and illness.
As the video continues to circulate, Napiza’s case serves as a reminder of how quickly online actions can impact public perception, especially for elected officials expected to uphold community trust and responsibility.
