BACOOR, Cavite — The City Government of Bacoor, in partnership with the Pag-IBIG Fund, recently conducted a site visit for its upcoming affordable housing project located near Zapote Public Market and adjacent to Zapote Elementary School, along the busy Aguinaldo Highway.

City officials emphasized that the project aims to provide members of Pag-IBIG with safe, accessible, and affordable housing. The location allows residents to walk to essential services such as the market, school, and major thoroughfares — a convenience often lacking in traditional social housing projects.

Planned infrastructure improvements include larger water pipes to ensure reliable water supply, and discussions are underway to explore upgrading the nearby school into an integrated institution to further enhance educational opportunities for local children.

This project reflects a growing focus on urban housing solutions that do more than provide a roof. By considering accessibility, utilities, and educational opportunities, Bacoor is aiming to create not just homes, but thriving communities where daily needs and long-term development are within reach.

Yet this initiative also raises broader questions about urban planning, sustainability, and equity. Can such targeted, high-accessibility housing be scaled to meet the growing demand in fast-developing cities across the Philippines? As Bacoor moves closer to providing affordable, well-located homes, can other cities replicate this model to ensure both accessibility and quality of life for all residents? (Larawan mula: Strike B.
