MANILA, Philippines, March 2, 2026 — Senator Raffy Tulfo has confirmed that he will seek reelection in the 2028 national elections, ruling out any bid for higher office despite persistent speculation and calls from supporters.

Speaking at a press conference, Tulfo emphasized that he is content serving in the Senate and has no interest in pursuing the presidency or vice presidency. 

“I don’t want to answer that because I have no plans—today or in the future. I’m happy here in the Senate; I can do a lot. For me, I’m happy here. So why would I go into something that will give me a headache?” he said in Filipino.

Tulfo added that he is firm in his decision to remain in the Senate. “I am firm in my stand that now and in the future, I will not run,” he declared, stressing that his focus is on legislative work and public service rather than political ambition.

His brother, Senator Erwin Tulfo, echoed the sentiment, saying that neither of them intends to seek higher office in 2028. 

“Magkakaroon na naman ng issues. Ayaw na po ng family namin ng gulo. Kaya si Sen. Raffy din, gusto niya po mag-re-elect na lang siya sa Senate, e ako din po napag-usapan na namin,” Erwin explained.

The announcement comes as political analysts continue to speculate about potential presidential contenders for 2028. Tulfo’s decision to remain in the Senate underscores his preference for legislative work and his desire to avoid the controversies and pressures that often accompany higher office.

For now, Tulfo has made clear that his priority is to continue serving as senator, focusing on issues such as public services and governance, while leaving the race for higher positions to others.
