Police in Rizal rescue young woman after suspected sleeping pill overdose

BINANGONAN, RIZAL — A young woman who lost consciousness after reportedly taking sleeping pills was rescued by police officers conducting routine patrol in Barangay Mambog on March 17, 2026.
Patrolman Richard Valerio and Patrolman John Daryl Magtibay of the Binangonan Municipal Police Station were approached by the victim’s family along Manila East Road, pleading for immediate assistance.
The officers quickly responded, rushing the unconscious woman to the nearest hospital where she received urgent medical care. Their swift action ensured that the victim was given timely treatment.
The Philippine National Police highlighted the incident as an example of its commitment to public service beyond law enforcement. The rescue reflects the PNP Focused Agenda, which emphasizes enhanced police operations and active community support.
PNP Chief PGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the officers, saying, “Every life matters, and our personnel must always be ready to respond with care and urgency. Sa mga ganitong sitwasyon, mahalaga ang agarang pagtugon upang makapagligtas ng buhay.”
He further stressed the importance of compassion in policing. “Ang malasakit sa kapwa ay mahalagang bahagi ng serbisyo ng pulis. Naroroon kami hindi lamang para magpatupad ng batas, kundi para tumulong sa oras ng pangangailangan,” Nartatez added.
The PNP reiterated its commitment to building a “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman,” assuring the public that its personnel remain ready to protect lives and respond to emergencies with urgency and care.
