MARCH 25, 2026 — The chase is over. The gunman who shot dead retired cop George Capistrano in Tondo has finally been dragged out of hiding — and now the blame game is exploding.
Albert Magdaraog, 27, was cornered in San Pedro, Laguna after weeks on the run. CCTV footage had already nailed him and his motorcycle driver, Liegem “Biboy” Bulalacao, tailing Capistrano near his home. Biboy surrendered earlier after Mayor Isko Moreno dangled a P500,000 reward, but swore he had no clue about the murder plot.
Magdaraog, however, flipped the script — accusing Biboy of being the real mastermind. He admitted pulling the trigger twice, later pawning stolen jewelry for P600,000.
When pressed on why he didn't surrender, Magdaraog admitted he panicked after realizing the man he shot was a policeman — something he claimed he didn’t know at the time.
Mayor Isko wasted no time turning the arrest into a spectacle, presenting Magdaraog live on Facebook.
He declared, “We can say that justice is served for the family of Capistrano.”
Adding fuel to the fire, Magdaraog’s supposed girlfriend was also arrested for harboring him, facing charges of her own.
So what do you think — was this case handled with real justice, or just another political showpiece?
