MORONG, BATAAN — Two siblings drowned in Morong, Bataan on Friday, April 3, 2026, after being swept away by strong waves while swimming at the beach in Barangay Sabang. The tragic incident has left their family and community in mourning.

Police reports stated that the siblings were enjoying the water when the waves suddenly intensified and carried them out to sea. Despite the quick response of rescuers, they were not able to save the victims, who were later found lifeless.

Authorities confirmed that three young people drowned in the same area, while six of their companions were successfully rescued. The incident occurred around noon, and investigators noted that some of those swimming may have been under the influence of alcohol, which could have contributed to their inability to escape the strong current.

Local officials have reminded the public to exercise caution when swimming at beaches, especially during Holy Week when crowds flock to coastal areas. They urged beachgoers to avoid swimming while intoxicated and to remain vigilant about sea conditions.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances of the incident and whether safety measures at the site were sufficient. Calls have been made for stricter monitoring and the deployment of more lifeguards along Bataan’s beaches.

The tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of safety in public swimming areas, particularly during peak vacation periods when accidents are more likely to occur.
