MANILA, Philippines —Malacañang has assured the public that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is in good health, dismissing speculation fueled by social media posts questioning the authenticity of his Easter Sunday photo. Palace officials emphasized that the President remains “definitely well” and urged Filipinos not to be misled by baseless rumors.

On April 6, 2026, the Presidential Communications Office clarified that President Marcos is in good condition after online chatter suggested that his Easter family photo was recycled. Undersecretary Claire Castro stated, “He is fine,” adding that the President spent Holy Week in his home province of Ilocos Norte. She further stressed, “I think mainstream media should prevail over baseless social media posts. Let’s not be too quick to believe them.”

The Palace’s statement came after critics alleged that Marcos’ Easter Sunday post was not recent, sparking speculation about his health. Officials reiterated that the President continues to fulfill his duties and remains active in both governance and public engagements.

Marcos himself marked Easter with a message to Filipinos, describing the occasion as “the triumphant culmination of Holy Week and the sacred proclamation of Christ’s Resurrection.” He called on the nation to “build a country where kindness is instinct and unity is our strength.”

The clarification underscores the administration’s concern over the spread of misinformation online, particularly regarding the President’s health. Palace officials reminded the public to rely on credible news sources and official government channels for accurate updates.

With the President’s health confirmed to be stable, Malacañang is expected to shift focus back to pressing national issues, including economic challenges, climate-related concerns, and ongoing foreign policy developments.

In the coming weeks, Marcos is scheduled to resume regular public appearances, reinforcing the Palace’s assurance that he remains in good condition and fully capable of leading the country.

This latest episode highlights the growing influence of social media in shaping public perception and the need for vigilance against disinformation campaigns. For now, the Palace’s message is clear: President Marcos is in good health and continues to carry out his responsibilities as head of state.
