Jimmy Alapag, the Filipino basketball legend and lone Filipino coach in the NBA, has officially parted ways with the Sacramento Kings after the conclusion of the 2025-26 season. His departure marks the end of a historic chapter for Philippine basketball representation in the league.

Alapag announced his exit from the Sacramento Kings through a heartfelt social media post, expressing gratitude to the organization and its fans. “Thank you SacTown. My time here is up,” Alapag wrote. 

“Grateful for all the love shown to my family and I. What was once a dream to coach in the NBA became a reality in Sacramento. Thankful for all the amazing experiences, the lessons, the growth and most importantly the time spent with some of the best people/fans in the NBA. Looking forward to what God has planned next.”

Alapag, who joined the Kings’ coaching staff in 2021, became a trailblazer as the first Filipino to hold a coaching role in the NBA.
