Authorities said the victims were members of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and an employee of the Provincial Tourism Office. The group was part of a convoy providing security for organizers of a national beauty pageant when the accident occurred.
The patrol vehicle was carrying seven police personnel and three civilian staff when the driver reportedly lost control while navigating a steep downhill curve, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and fall into a ravine.

Also killed was Fortich Cristine, an employee of the Provincial Tourism Office. Other passengers sustained injuries and were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Local officials expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, noting that the victims were performing their duties when the accident happened. Investigators are now looking into the mechanical condition of the patrol vehicle and the road’s safety features to determine contributing factors.
The incident has sparked renewed calls for stricter safety measures on mountainous roads in Misamis Occidental, where sharp curves and steep inclines pose risks to motorists. The PNP has vowed to extend assistance to the families of the fallen officers and the civilian employee, while also reviewing protocols for convoy operations in challenging terrains.
This accident underscores the dangers faced by law enforcement personnel in the line of duty and highlights the urgent need for improved road safety infrastructure in remote areas of the country.
