MANILA, Philippines — February 26, 2026. Authorities arrested an alleged member of the Dawlah Islamiyah-Nilong Group at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1, following a coordinated multi-agency operation.
The Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (Avsegroup) reported that the suspect, a 37-year-old male, was intercepted on Wednesday after arriving on a flight from Los Angeles, California. His name appeared on a high-level alert list during routine immigration screening.
“He was promptly intercepted by joint operatives implementing a standing warrant issued by the court,” the Avsegroup said, noting that the arrest was carried out in coordination with the Intelligence Group, the National Bureau of Investigation, and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The suspect is wanted for multiple counts of frustrated murder and has long been under surveillance for alleged ties to terrorist activities in Mindanao.
Officials emphasized that the arrest demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-sharing and international cooperation in preventing suspected terrorists from entering or leaving the country.
The suspect is now in custody and will face charges in connection with his alleged involvement in terrorist operations, as authorities continue to investigate the extent of his activities and possible links to other groups.
This incident highlights the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen airport security and prevent the Philippines from being used as a transit point for individuals linked to terrorism.
