MARIKINA CITY, Philippines — A disturbance in Barangay Marikina Heights turned violent when a man allegedly bit two police officers during his arrest, according to reports from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

Authorities said the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. on April 15, when patrolmen from Police Sub-Station 8 responded to a call about a man causing trouble on the rooftop of a residence along Dao Street.

Police identified the suspect only by his alias “Fred.” He was reportedly intoxicated after consuming two bottles of gin mixed with five bottles of an energy drink before climbing onto the third-floor rooftop armed with a bladed weapon.

“The officers saw the suspect on the third-floor rooftop of the residence, shouting while brandishing a knife,” the NCRPO report stated.

When officers attempted to subdue him, Fred resisted violently and bit two patrolmen, causing injuries. The suspect was eventually restrained and taken into custody despite his aggressive behavior.

The wounded officers were brought to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening, but authorities emphasized the unusual nature of the attack.

Police said Fred may face charges of direct assault, physical injury, and resistance to lawful arrest. Investigators are also looking into whether his intoxication contributed to the disturbance and violent outburst.

The NCRPO reminded the public that disturbances involving intoxicated individuals can escalate quickly and urged residents to immediately report similar incidents to authorities.

This case has drawn attention online, with verified media outlets and police reports highlighting the bizarre nature of the assault, underscoring the risks officers face during routine response calls.
