JUPITER ISLAND, Florida —Tiger Woods has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) following a rollover crash near his home in Jupiter Island, Florida, on Friday afternoon, March 27, 2026. Authorities confirmed that Woods was not injured in the incident but was taken into custody by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office reported that Woods’ Land Rover was traveling at a high rate of speed along South Beach Road just before 2 p.m. ET when he attempted to overtake a truck hauling a pressure-cleaning trailer. His SUV clipped the back of the trailer, flipped onto its side, and slid down the road.
Sheriff John Budensiek said Woods managed to crawl out of the passenger window of the vehicle. “He was able to get out of the car on his own. There were no injuries to him or to the other driver,” Budensiek stated.
Authorities confirmed that Woods was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Investigators believe he was under the influence of medication or drugs, leading to his arrest at the scene. He was booked at the Martin County Jail and later released on bail.
The accident occurred just days after Woods competed in the TGL indoor golf final, marking his return to professional play. The 50-year-old golfer, a 15-time major champion, has faced previous legal troubles, including a 2017 DUI arrest in Florida linked to prescription medications.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, and Woods is expected to face court proceedings related to the DUI charge. The sheriff’s office emphasized that while no one was injured, the incident highlights the dangers of impaired driving.
The arrest has sent shockwaves through the sports world, with fans and analysts expressing concern over Woods’ future both on and off the golf course. His legal team has yet to issue a formal statement, but the case is expected to draw significant public attention in the coming weeks.
This latest incident underscores the challenges Woods continues to face in his personal life, even as he attempts to rebuild his career in professional golf.
