Former PBA star Mark “Captain Hook” Cardona was arrested in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, after allegedly harassing a young woman inside a bar. The 44-year-old ex-shooting guard faces charges of acts of lasciviousness following the incident.
Police reports state that Cardona allegedly grabbed the hand of a 21-year-old woman and kissed her without consent while inside the smoking area of a BGC bar. The victim’s boyfriend confronted Cardona, but the former athlete reportedly became aggressive, pushing him and even poking his eyes during the altercation.
The victim recounted her shock, saying she did not personally know Cardona and was suddenly dragged and kissed. “We bumped. I wanted to say sorry. But he’s, like, held my hands, then got close to me, then he kissed me suddenly, so I was so shocked,” she told investigators.
Witnesses and bar staff intervened, with a bouncer assisting the victim and her partner in reporting the incident to authorities. Cardona was later arrested and brought into police custody.
Cardona, known in the PBA as “Captain Hook” for his signature teardrop shot, previously played for several teams including Talk ‘N Text, Air21, and Meralco, and later joined the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). His career had been marred by controversies, including past legal troubles and personal struggles.
The arrest has reignited discussions about athlete conduct and accountability, especially for former sports figures who remain in the public eye. Authorities confirmed that charges are being prepared, and the case will proceed under Taguig City jurisdiction.
This incident has drawn significant attention on social media, with many netizens expressing disappointment over Cardona’s behavior and calling for justice for the victim.
