DECEMBER 29, 2025 — A bride-to-be who vanished days before her wedding has been found in Pangasinan, sparking questions about what drives a woman to walk away from the altar.
Sherra de Juan, 29, was reported missing in Quezon City on December 10 after telling her fiancé she was heading to the mall to buy shoes for their December 14 ceremony. She never returned and left her phone behind. Witnesses later confirmed she boarded a bus along the Bulacan–NIA Road route, but her destination remained unclear.
Police confirmed Monday that De Juan was located in Sison, Pangasinan, after a concerned citizen alerted her family.
“’Yong mismong tumawag na nakakita kay Sherra, kinontak po ’yong family. Nag-usap sila saglit through Viber at kinonfirm po ng boyfriend at ng kapatid na si Ms. Sherra nga po ’yon,” said Quezon City Police District director Col. Randy Glenn Silvio.
(The caller who saw Sherra contacted the family. They spoke briefly through Viber, and her boyfriend and sibling confirmed it was indeed Sherra.)
Authorities said De Juan was staying at the home of the civilian who reported her presence. While she is alive and able to speak, police noted her statements have been inconsistent.
“Buhay po at may mga revelation siya pero hindi pa consistent eh,” Silvio added.
(She is alive and has revelations, but they are not yet consistent.)
Apparently, this is not the first time De Juan disappeared. Her maid of honor revealed in a sworn statement that she had previously gone missing due to emotional, financial, and family struggles.
Her family expressed relief upon her return.
“Sabi ko, huwag ka na mag-sorry. Ang importante kukunin ka namin,” said her brother Darwin.
(I told her, don’t apologize anymore. What matters is we’re taking you home.)
Her father Jose described the moment as “parang nabunutan po ako ng tinik” (like a thorn was removed from my chest).
From bride-to-be to runaway bride
But beyond relief, the incident has stirred the public’s curiosity. Was this a simple case of cold feet, or a sign of deeper troubles in a decade-long relationship? Furthermore, how many women silently endure pressures that push them to escape, even at the cost of scandal?
The story of Sherra de Juan is more than a missing-person case — it is a mirror reflecting the hidden struggles behind weddings, relationships, and expectations.
Tonight, the nation is kept on its toes, eagerly awaiting what unfolds next in this saga.
