DAVAO, Philippines — A disturbing food safety incident has drawn public attention in Davao City after a customer reported allegedly discovering live maggots crawling on a serving of lechon at a local restaurant. The incident, which quickly circulated online due to its graphic nature, prompted immediate action from city authorities and renewed calls for stricter enforcement of food safety standards.

According to the complainant, the discovery caused severe distress, fear, and disappointment, especially as lechon is a widely loved Filipino dish often associated with celebrations and family gatherings. The customer further claimed to have experienced stomach pain after consuming part of the food, raising concerns over possible health complications resulting from ingesting contaminated meat.
