DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla has openly declared his family’s long-standing loyalty to the Marcoses, saying “Kung walang Marcos, walang Remulla!” — a statement that underscores his political alignment and trust in President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

CABANATUAN CITY, Philippines — February 6, 2026. Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla reaffirmed his family’s decades-long ties with the Marcos clan, stressing that their political fortunes have always been intertwined. In a televised interview on One News PH’s The Big Story, Remulla said, “Kung walang Marcos, walang Remulla!” and added, “Loyalist talaga kami.”

Remulla explained that his family’s relationship with the Marcoses dates back to the era of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., and has continued under the leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. He emphasized that the trust given to him by the current administration is not merely political convenience but rooted in history and loyalty.

“Nasa akin ang tiwala ng Pangulo,” he said, clarifying that while he does not maintain a personal friendship with Marcos Jr., his role as DILG chief is anchored on mutual respect and confidence.

The Remulla family, long influential in Cavite politics, has consistently aligned itself with the Marcoses. Jonvic himself rose to national prominence after being appointed to the Cabinet in 2025, where he has played a central role in addressing governance issues, including the controversial flood control projects that sparked nationwide protests. Despite rumors circulating online about his supposed resignation, fact-checkers have confirmed that Remulla remains firmly in his post and continues to support the President.

His loyalty statement comes at a time when the Marcos administration faces mounting challenges, including corruption allegations tied to infrastructure projects. Remulla has been vocal in defending the government’s accountability efforts, even confronting former officials accused of misusing funds. He has also hinted at broader political ambitions, saying he is not closing the door on a possible presidential run in 2028.
