MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso warmly commended the Manila Police District (MPD), popularly known as “Manila’s Finest,” during their 125th anniversary celebration for their continued dedication to public safety and law enforcement.

In a speech honoring the police force, Mayor Isko highlighted the leadership of General Abad and lauded officers across precincts and street patrol units for their role in reducing criminal activity. “On behalf of the people of Manila, I would like to thank General Abad, the officers of their respective precincts, those patrolling the streets, and even those behind the scenes. They are very successful in making it possible for criminal activities to be lessened in the City of Manila,” he said.

Statistics shared by the mayor show a 13% decrease in crime incidents and a 9% increase in crime efficiency rate, indicators of the MPD’s effective crime prevention and law enforcement strategies. The improvements reflect the city government’s commitment to ensuring that residents feel safe and secure.

Mayor Isko also emphasized the psychological impact on criminals, noting that stricter policies and visible law enforcement efforts are making potential offenders more cautious: “Our job is to target the wrongdoers, and with that policy, the criminals are gradually feeling intimidated and reconsidering their actions in Manila,” he said.

This recognition not only celebrates the MPD’s achievements but also prompts a broader reflection: How can consistent police-community collaboration further enhance safety and trust in urban centers like Manila? (Larawan mula sa: Manila PIO / Facebook)
