Ex-beauty queen teacher shot dead in Isabela ambush — Targeted hit or random brutality?

SAN MANUEL, Isabela, February 14, 2026 — A former beauty queen and runner-up in the Miss Philippines-Earth 2013 pageant was shot dead in front of her home in Barangay Cabaritan, San Manuel, Isabela on Friday evening.
Police identified the victim as 32-year-old teacher Lullete Jane Ramilo-De Guzman, who sustained gunshot wounds to the face and body while inside her Toyota Fortuner SUV. Authorities said she was with her children when her father stepped out of the vehicle to open the gate of their residence.
At that moment, a gunman riding a motorcycle without a license plate entered the area and repeatedly fired at her.
Ramilo-De Guzman was rushed to the Manuel Roxas District Hospital in Roxas town but was declared dead on arrival. Investigators confirmed that the assailant fled immediately after the shooting, and a manhunt has been launched to identify and apprehend the suspect.
Local officials condemned the attack, describing it as a brutal crime that has shocked the community. Police are now gathering CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts to determine the motive and track down those responsible.
Ramilo-De Guzman gained national recognition when she finished as runner-up in the Miss Philippines-Earth 2013 pageant. Her sudden death has drawn widespread sympathy, with friends and former colleagues expressing grief and calling for justice.
This case adds to the growing concern over violent crimes in the region, with authorities under pressure to resolve the investigation swiftly and bring closure to the victim’s family.
