LAS PIÑAS CITY — A man is in critical condition after being shot in the head at close range by an acquaintance in Barangay Manuyo Dos, Las Piñas, on Monday night, March 2.
Police reports said the victim and the suspect had stopped along Canaynay Road past 7 p.m. when the latter suddenly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim in the head. Cellphone footage captured the arrival of a barangay ambulance that rushed the victim to the hospital, where he remains under close monitoring.
Residents initially thought the gunshot was just a firecracker due to the noise of passing trucks. CCTV footage showed the suspect and victim walking together minutes before the shooting near the barangay satellite office.
Barangay officials confirmed that both men were local vendors with stalls across from each other in the market. Investigators believe the attack may have stemmed from a long-standing dispute between the two.
Police are conducting follow-up operations to locate the suspect and determine the exact motive behind the shooting. Authorities assured that the case is being treated with urgency as the victim continues to fight for his life in the hospital.
