CALAMBA, Laguna — What began as a quiet, unnoticed role on the sidelines has transformed into a powerful story of perseverance and purpose. Charles Sebastian Lotho, once a ball boy in the Philippines Football League earning just ₱300 a day, has now become a licensed occupational therapist offering free consultations to those in need.
Working long hours on the field while juggling his studies, Lotho faced exhaustion, doubt, and moments of near surrender. Yet, anchored in faith and determination, he pressed on. His prayer became his promise: that if he succeeded, he would use his life to help others heal. In June 2025, that promise came to life when he passed the Occupational Therapist Licensure Exam—marking a turning point not just for himself, but for the many lives he would soon touch.
Now based in Calamba, Lotho offers free online consultations, particularly for children with special needs whose families cannot afford therapy. In a time when access to healthcare remains a challenge for many Filipinos, his initiative bridges not just a service gap—but a gap in compassion.
His story goes beyond personal success. It highlights a deeper truth: that achievement finds its highest meaning when it is shared. In a society often driven by recognition and reward, Lotho’s journey redirects the focus toward service, empathy, and calling.
At a time of crisis—economic, social, and emotional—stories like his remind us that real impact is not measured by how far we rise, but by how many we lift along the way.
In a world chasing success, are we forgetting that the greatest achievement is helping others rise with us?
