JoyRide Philippines cuts commission to 18% — Drivers get higher take-home pay

JoyRide Philippines has announced that starting Monday, April 20, 2026, its motorcycle taxi commission rate will be reduced from 20 percent to 18 percent, giving thousands of driver-partners higher take-home pay amid soaring fuel costs.

The company confirmed the adjustment in a statement, noting that drivers can further lower their commission to as little as 15 percent through JoyRide’s existing tiering program. This move comes as part of a broader initiative to support its driver-partners during the ongoing fuel price crisis triggered by instability in the Middle East.

JoyRide President Sherwin Yu explained that the decision was made in direct response to the financial strain drivers have faced due to rising oil prices. “Fuel costs continue to climb and strain the transport sector, so we are stepping up support for our driver-partners by reducing commission rates across both motorcycle and car services,” Yu said.

In addition to the motorcycle taxi segment, JoyRide Car has already slashed its commission rate for four-wheel services from 20 percent to 10 percent, positioning itself among the lowest in the transport network vehicle service (TNVS) industry.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) welcomed the move, thanking transport network companies for slashing commission rates to help cushion drivers from the impact of higher fuel prices. The reduction is expected to provide immediate relief to driver-partners, allowing them to retain more of their earnings per trip while keeping fares stable for commuters.

JoyRide’s commission cut is seen as a significant financial reprieve for the gig economy sector, particularly motorcycle taxi drivers who have been hit hardest by fuel price shocks. With the new rates taking effect on April 20, driver-partners are expected to benefit from increased net income, while commuters continue to enjoy affordable ride-hailing services.
