SANTA ROSA, Laguna — Enchanted Kingdom, widely known as the Philippines’ first world-class theme park, recently welcomed pets and animal lovers during its one-day Furever Enchanted Ogg’s Pets Day event held on April 26. The special gathering invited dogs, cats, pet owners, and advocates into a space usually reserved for traditional leisure activities, turning a theme park into a venue for community, education, and animal welfare.

As part of its Forever Enchanted Summer campaign, the park celebrated the relationship between pets and their owners while promoting responsible pet care. Activities began with learning sessions on obedience training, pet health and safety, responsible ownership, and animal bite awareness. These were conducted with support from the Santa Rosa City Veterinary Office, Animal Bite Center, and dog training group Canine Connections.

Animal welfare groups also joined the event. Volunteers from Philippine Animal Welfare Society were present, while Second Chance Aspin Shelter Philippines Incorporated organized an on-site pet adoption drive that gave rescued cats and dogs the chance to find permanent homes.

Guests also enjoyed Ogg’s Paw Ville, a pet-friendly area featuring playground spaces, photo booths, veterinary checkups, anti-rabies vaccinations, consultations, and pet merchandise stalls. Participants were later given access to enjoy the rest of the park’s attractions.

Beyond the entertainment value, the event reflects a changing culture in the Philippines. Pets are no longer viewed simply as property or household accessories. For many families, they are companions, emotional support, and part of daily life. When businesses create pet-inclusive spaces, they acknowledge that bond and help normalize compassion toward animals.

Still, inclusion must come with responsibility. Cleanliness, safety, training, and respect for shared spaces remain essential if pet-friendly environments are to succeed long-term.

The deeper question now is this: as society becomes more welcoming to pets, are we also becoming more responsible in how we care for them?
