JANUARY 7, 2026 — Jollibee is once again proving that the “bee” never stops buzzing. The homegrown fast-food giant announced plans to spin off its international business and list it on a United States exchange, creating Jollibee Foods Corporation International (JFCI).
For Filipinos, this isn’t just corporate restructuring — it’s a moment of pride. Imagine a brand that started as an ice cream parlor in Quezon City now preparing to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with global giants in Wall Street!
The company disclosed that shares of JFCI will be distributed to existing shareholders through a property dividend. The parent JFC will remain listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange, focusing on domestic operations. The strategy? Sharpen focus, give investors a choice, and fuel global growth.
As Jollibee put it, “The structure is designed to support each business in pursuing its strategic ambitions while enhancing the clarity of each equity story.”
But what does this mean for us, the everyday Filipino? On one hand, it’s reassurance that the Jollibee we know — the one serving Chickenjoy, Jolly Spaghetti, and Burger Steak — remains firmly rooted here.
On the other, it’s a bold declaration that our beloved bee is ready to conquer the world. With more than 10,000 stores across 33 countries and brands like Smashburger and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf under its wing, Jollibee is no longer just a Filipino favorite but a global contender.
This move also reflects a broader trend of Asian companies tapping US markets for deeper capital pools.
But can the bee keep its sting?
Jollibee’s story is uniquely Filipino. It’s about grit, determination, and the belief that a small business can grow into a global empire.
Isn’t this the kind of narrative we want the world to hear? That a brand born from Filipino taste buds can thrive in the most competitive food markets abroad?
The question now is, will Jollibee’s US listing make it a stronger global player, or will it risk losing touch with its roots? For many of us, Jollibee is more than fried chicken — it’s family memories, birthday parties, and comfort food after a long day. As it spreads its wings further, we can only hope it continues to carry that Filipino warmth wherever it goes.
