JANUARY 22, 2026 — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. was rushed to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City on Wednesday night, January 21, after experiencing stomach discomfort.
Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro confirmed, “Yes, the President was observed at St. Luke’s Medical Center-QC. He has been discharged and is back in Malacañang.”
Sources from the hospital revealed that Marcos suffered from diverticulitis, an intestinal condition that can cause severe pain and complications if left unchecked.
The Palace insists the President is in “good condition” and even continued working while under observation.
Castro added: “Siya po ay nasa maayos na kalagayan at mamayang hapon po ay magkakaroon pa po siya ng dalawang pribadong meetings.”
(He is in good condition and later this afternoon he will still have two private meetings.)
For now, the Palace assures the public that the President’s health is stable and that government operations remain uninterrupted.
The well-being of a nation’s leader is never just personal — it’s tied to the people he serves. So as President Marcos regains strength, let’s view moments like this as reminders of the weight carried by those in power.
