ROAR! A WALK AGAINST CORRUPTION

Cesar Patrick F. BonalesIpinost noong 2026-01-23 15:12:17 ROAR! A WALK AGAINST CORRUPTION

The August Twenty One Movement (ATOM) is set to ignite a powerful public demonstration against corruption this coming Sunday, January 25, 2026. This critical "walk mobilization" will take place on Ayala Avenue, strategically coinciding with the carless Sundays to ensure maximum visibility and public participation. The walk will start at 7:30 AM in front of the Ayala Triangle Gardens, a central and symbolic gathering place. Participants will proceed along Ayala Avenue towards Salcedo Street, make a U-turn, and return to the Ninoy Aquino Statue. The event culminates at the Ninoy Statue with a short prayer and speeches from prominent civic leaders Atty. Dino De Leon and ATOM President Volt Bohol.

In a recent statement, ATOM expressed profound concern over what they perceive as selective accountability within the current administration. ATOM highlights that the "biggest fish" close to power remain untouched, signaling a need for genuine reform that extends beyond political convenience.

A Timely Homage to Democracy

This mobilization holds profound significance as it coincides with the birthday of former President Cory Aquino. The walk is dedicated to her enduring legacy as a beacon of freedom who courageously led the struggle to liberate the Philippines from dictatorship. Her leadership culminated in the historic 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution, a testament to the Filipino people's unwavering spirit in the face of widespread electoral fraud.

Resisting Historical Revisionism

As the 40th Anniversary of People Power approaches, ATOM President Volt Bohol issues a passionate call to action. Despite the declaration of People Power Day as a "working holiday" by the son of the former dictator, Bohol urges educational institutions to declare their own holiday or an alternative learning day:

"We call on other schools that have yet to decide and declare People Power Day a school holiday, or an alternative learning day. Together, let us all remember, celebrate, and embrace one of the few things that we can be proud of as Filipinos to the rest of the world! Because the declaration itself by the government is a subtle lie to make us, Filipinos, think that February 25 is not important to us. A lie that we must resist."

ATOM vehemently condemns the ongoing demonization of People Power, which began during the Duterte administration and has continued under Marcos Jr. They assert that corruption is intrinsically linked to fraud and dishonesty, mirroring the spread of fake news over the past decade. The movement's ultimate goal is to "dismantle Marcos-Duterte history revisionism" and reclaim the true narrative of the nation.
