MANILA — Malacañang has strongly denied claims made by former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is seeking reconciliation with Vice President Sara Duterte.

The Palace branded Roque’s statements as “lies” and “fake news,” stressing that the administration is focused on governance rather than political maneuvering.

Roque, who is currently facing legal issues, alleged in a Facebook post that a “confidential source” told him Marcos wanted to mend ties with Duterte. Palace Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro dismissed the claim outright.

“Kasinungalingan na naman! Dapat ang iniisip nila ngayon ay serbisyo muna bago pamumulitika,” she said, adding that the Duterte camp continues to spread fabricated stories.

Vice President Duterte reportedly responded to the rumors by saying “there is no turning back” and that she has no intention of reconciling with her former ally. Palace officials emphasized that the administration’s priority is delivering services to the people, not engaging in political drama.

The exchange highlights the ongoing rift between Marcos and Duterte, which has become increasingly visible in recent months. Analysts note that the denial from Malacañang signals a firm stance against attempts to frame the administration as seeking political compromise, especially as succession talks for the 2028 elections begin to surface.

This latest controversy underscores the deep divisions within the former Marcos-Duterte alliance, with both camps now openly rejecting reconciliation narratives. The Palace reiterated that its focus remains on governance and public service, dismissing Roque’s claims as another distraction from pressing national issues.
