SAN PEDRO, Laguna — In celebration of National Women’s Month 2026, the City Government of San Pedro is taking proactive steps to honor and empower its female residents through a variety of programs and services designed to promote well-being, health, and livelihood opportunities. The initiative is set for Monday, March 9, 2026, and aims to recognize the invaluable contributions of women in both family and community life.

Among the highlights is free transportation for women on selected tricycles and jeepneys marked with tarpaulins stating “Libreng Sakay – LGU San Pedro.” The service, coordinated in partnership with local TODA and JODA presidents, will be available from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, ensuring safe and convenient mobility for women throughout the city.

Additional services offered at San Pedro City Hall include:

  • Free Birth Certificates for women born in San Pedro (Local Civil Registry Office, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

  • Medical Check-Ups including blood sugar and blood pressure screening (City Health Office, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

  • Wellness Services such as haircuts and massage therapy (CHO Wellness Division, Pavilion Hall, 5th Floor, 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM)

  • Livelihood Training Registration and Cooperative Consultations (Ground Floor, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

The celebration, organized by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, seeks to bring government services closer to women, acknowledging their strength, sacrifices, and essential roles in society.

While events like this spotlight women’s empowerment, they also provoke a larger conversation: beyond symbolic gestures and free services, how can local governments ensure that every woman truly experiences sustained support, opportunity, and recognition in her daily life?
