Police in Parañaque City have arrested the suspect in the condominium basketball court shooting that left two people dead and several others injured earlier this week. Authorities confirmed the man was tracked down to another condo unit in Barangay Moonwalk, where weapons and ammunition were recovered.
MANILA — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) announced Friday night, March 6, 2026, that operatives successfully apprehended the suspect in the deadly shooting at a Parañaque condominium complex. The incident, which occurred on March 4, shocked residents after a gunman opened fire on individuals playing basketball, killing two and injuring at least four others.
Authorities identified the suspect as a 59-year-old male resident of Barangay Marcelo Green. Police revealed that he had a pending arrest warrant for homicide issued by the Taguig City Regional Trial Court in 2023, and was previously convicted of homicide in the same year. NCRPO spokesperson Police Major Hazel Asilo confirmed the authenticity of the warrant, stating, “Legit daw po,” when asked about its validity.
During the arrest operation, police seized two firearms, four magazines, and 47 rounds of ammunition from the suspect. Investigators believe the weapons were intended for further violent acts, underscoring the urgency of the arrest.
The Southern Police District (SPD) noted that the suspect had been evading authorities despite his outstanding warrant. His capture was made possible through coordinated surveillance and intelligence work by NCRPO operatives.
The shooting incident has raised alarm among residents and local officials, with calls for stricter security measures in condominium complexes and public spaces. Police assured the public that the suspect is now in custody and will face charges not only for the recent killings but also for his prior homicide case.
This arrest marks a significant step in addressing violent crime in Metro Manila, but authorities continue to warn that vigilance and community cooperation are essential in preventing similar tragedies.
