MANILA, Philippines — The cool weather currently being felt across parts of the country is expected to gradually ease as the northeast monsoon begins to weaken, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
The weather system known locally as Amihan will still bring relatively cool temperatures and cloudy skies in several areas, particularly across Luzon and Visayas. However, meteorologists say its influence is slowly diminishing as the country transitions toward warmer conditions in the coming weeks.
PAGASA reported that areas expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies include Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Aurora, Philippines, and Quezon Province. Meanwhile, similar conditions may also be felt in Metro Manila, Western Visayas, and other remaining parts of Luzon.
Despite the weakening monsoon winds, the public can still expect cooler-than-usual temperatures, especially during early mornings and late evenings. Forecasts indicate that temperatures may range between 20.4°C and 28.2°C in affected areas.
The Amihan season typically brings cooler and drier air from the northeast, which can lower temperatures and produce breezy conditions across northern and central parts of the Philippines.
As the monsoon gradually fades, weather experts say warmer conditions will likely return across much of the country, marking the transition toward the hot and dry season. With the cold winds slowly losing strength, many Filipinos are now wondering: Are these the final cool days before the summer heat fully takes over the country?
