A former gas station supervisor in Manila has been arrested after allegedly embezzling around ₱57 million from her company, following months of investigation and a warrant issued by the Manila Regional Trial Court. She now faces multiple counts of qualified theft.

The Manila Police District confirmed that the 35-year-old suspect was apprehended in front of a condominium in Parañaque City on March 30, 2026, after being tracked down for several months. The arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by the manpower agency managing the gas station along Taft Avenue, Manila.

Investigators revealed that the scheme allegedly began in March 2024, when the suspect started working as a supervisor. According to the company’s representatives, she manipulated deposit slips and underreported daily sales. “For example, out of the total ₱800,000 sales for a day, she would deposit only ₱200,000 and pocket the rest,” a company official explained.

The discrepancies were discovered during routine audits conducted by the company’s roving auditor. By the time the irregularities were fully uncovered, the missing funds had ballooned to ₱57 million. The agency then filed a formal complaint, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant.

Authorities have filed 96 counts of qualified theft against the suspect, reflecting the scale of the alleged embezzlement. The case has drawn public attention due to the staggering amount involved and the length of time the scheme reportedly went undetected.

The suspect is currently detained while awaiting trial. Police said further investigation is ongoing to determine if other individuals were involved or benefited from the scheme. The company has vowed to pursue the case to ensure accountability and recover losses.

This arrest underscores the importance of strict financial oversight and auditing in businesses, especially in industries that handle large daily cash transactions. The case also highlights how internal fraud can persist for extended periods if not closely monitored.
