CEBU CITY — Authorities have arrested a 61-year-old foreign national wanted for multiple sexual offenses in the United States, according to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
The suspect, identified as an American fugitive, was apprehended at Tambuli Tower, Tambuli Seaside, Mactan, Cebu in an operation conducted by CIDG operatives in coordination with the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
Police said the arrest was made on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by a U.S. district court on December 4, 2025. The suspect had been staying in Cebu when authorities tracked him down.
CIDG confirmed that the foreigner faces multiple sexual offense charges abroad, though details of the cases were not immediately disclosed. The BI stated that the suspect will be deported to the United States to face trial and will be placed on the Philippine immigration blacklist to prevent re-entry.
The arrest highlights the continuing cooperation between Philippine law enforcement and international agencies in pursuing fugitives hiding in the country. The BI Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) has intensified operations against foreign nationals involved in crimes such as sexual exploitation, child pornography, and human trafficking.
Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado reiterated the bureau’s stance: “Foreign nationals who commit crimes, especially sexual offenses, are considered undesirable aliens. They will be deported immediately and barred from returning to the Philippines.”
The suspect is currently under CIDG custody pending deportation proceedings.
This case underscores the Philippines’ strict enforcement of immigration laws and its commitment to protecting vulnerable communities from foreign offenders.
