INFANTA, Quezon — A major infrastructure boost is underway in Infanta after the approval of a ₱50 million allocation under the 2026 national budget for the completion of its new municipal building. The development was confirmed by Mayor L.A. Ruanto, who credited the support of Miguel Zubiri in securing the funding through institutional amendments in Republic Act No. 12314.
The project, officially titled “Construction (Completion) of New Infanta Municipal Building (Executive and Legislative Building),” will rise in Barangay Comon, aiming to centralize and modernize local government operations. Once completed, the facility is expected to significantly improve the delivery of public services, providing residents with a more efficient and accessible government hub.
Mayor Ruanto expressed gratitude to the senator, noting that this is already the third project facilitated for the municipality through the Department of Public Works and Highways, following the construction of the Binulasan and Balobo Covered Courts. The continued support underscores a growing partnership between national and local leadership in addressing infrastructure needs.
However, beyond the promise of development lies a crucial challenge—ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation. In his official communication, Zubiri emphasized that no one from his office should interfere in the execution of the project or be involved in any form of kickback or favoritism. This strong statement reflects a broader concern in public infrastructure projects: that progress must not come at the cost of integrity.
While the ₱50 million allocation marks a significant step forward, local officials acknowledge that additional funding will still be needed to fully complete the building. Nonetheless, the current support is expected to accelerate construction and bring the project closer to reality.
This development represents more than just a new structure—it symbolizes an opportunity to strengthen public trust through responsible governance.
As public funds drive development, how can we ensure that progress is matched with true accountability?
