Duterte SALN not submitted at hearing — To be presented next session

MANILA, April 14, 2026 —Vice President Sara Duterte’s Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) was not submitted to the House Committee on Justice during Tuesday’s impeachment hearing, with Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano confirming that the documents will instead be presented at the next session.

The Office of the Ombudsman was expected to provide Duterte’s SALN records as part of the ongoing impeachment proceedings, but Clavano explained that Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla did not attend after being informed by the committee that the body “will not be accommodated” during the day’s hearing.

The deferral comes at a crucial stage in the impeachment process, where lawmakers are examining evidence and hearing testimonies related to allegations against the Vice President. The House panel has subpoenaed documents from multiple agencies, including the Commission on Audit, Bureau of Internal Revenue, and the National Bureau of Investigation, to build its case.

Clavano emphasized that the Ombudsman remains committed to complying with the House subpoena and will return to submit Duterte’s SALNs covering her years in public office. He noted that the Ombudsman has previously made SALNs accessible to the public, stressing their importance as accountability documents.

The impeachment hearings have drawn national attention, with Duterte facing scrutiny over issues including confidential funds and alleged misuse of resources. The SALN submission is seen as a key piece of evidence that could shed light on her financial disclosures and potential discrepancies.

The House Committee on Justice is expected to resume its hearings later this week, with the Ombudsman scheduled to formally present the SALN documents. For now, the deferral underscores the procedural complexities of the impeachment process and the heightened anticipation surrounding the Vice President’s financial records.
