Bacolod City, Philippines — A woman from Negros Occidental who placed a modest bet of just P25 on the Lotto 6/42 has become an instant millionaire after hitting the jackpot prize of P10 million, according to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
The lucky bettor, identified only as a housewife from Kabankalan City, purchased her ticket at a local lotto outlet and matched all six winning numbers drawn on April 23. PCSO officials confirmed that she is the lone winner of the multimillion-peso prize, which has since generated buzz across social media for its “rags-to-riches” appeal.
In a statement, PCSO said the winning combination was 04-11-16-23-25-42. The agency reminded winners to keep their tickets safe and sign them immediately to avoid disputes. “We encourage our winners to secure their tickets and bring two valid IDs when claiming their prize at the PCSO main office in Mandaluyong City,” the agency noted.
The new millionaire reportedly told PCSO staff that she had been betting on the lottery for years, usually with small amounts, and never expected to win big. Her story has resonated with many Filipinos who see the lottery as a chance to change their lives despite economic challenges.
PCSO emphasized that lotto revenues fund various health and charity programs nationwide, including medical assistance for indigent patients and support for government hospitals. The agency also reminded the public to play responsibly, noting that while winning is rare, every ticket contributes to social welfare projects.
The win comes at a time when many families are struggling with rising costs of living, making the story of a P25 bet turning into P10 million a symbol of hope and fortune. The Kabankalan housewife now joins the ranks of ordinary Filipinos whose lives have been transformed overnight by the lottery.
