September 29, 2025 — Mahigit 950,000 public school teachers sa buong bansa ang makatatanggap ng ₱1,000 insentibo sa darating na Oktubre 5 bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng World Teachers’ Day, ayon kay House Assistant Minority Leader at Eastern Samar Rep. Christopher Sheen Gonzales.

Ang insentibong ito, na tinatawag na World Teachers’ Day Incentive Benefit (WTDIB), ay nakapaloob sa 2025 General Appropriations Act at may espesyal na probisyon upang matiyak ang agarang paglalabas ng pondo. “We assure our teachers that this incentive will remain a priority every year. In fact, we’ve filed a bill seeking to hopefully enhance the benefit,” pahayag ni Gonzales.

Kasama si House Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan, isinulong ni Gonzales ang House Bill 4531 na layong gawing ₱3,000 ang insentibo at gawing permanenteng bahagi ng taunang budget. “The proposed higher benefit is not merely an incentive but a clear expression of our nation’s gratitude. Public school teachers are the backbone of our education system. They deserve recognition not just in words but through tangible support,” dagdag pa niya.

Ang World Teachers’ Day ay ipinagdiriwang tuwing Oktubre 5 mula pa noong 1994 sa ilalim ng United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Sa Pilipinas, idineklara ito bilang National Teachers’ Day sa bisa ng Republic Act No. 10743.

Samantala, inanunsyo rin ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang pagpapatupad ng Expanded Career Program (ECP) upang bigyang daan ang mas makatarungan at merit-based na promosyon para sa mga guro. Ayon kay Education Secretary Sonny Angara, “The clear message of the ECP is, if you are ready, you have the chance to progress. You do not need a vacant position before your skills are recognized”.

Ang insentibo ay inaasahang maipamahagi sa mga kwalipikadong guro sa mismong araw ng selebrasyon, bilang pagkilala sa kanilang mahalagang papel sa paghubog ng kabataan at lipunan.
