MANILA — Tinukoy ni Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla si Benguet Representative Eric Yap bilang “person of interest” kaugnay ng mga flood control projects sa La Union na fully paid ngunit hindi natapos, ayon sa mga reklamong isinampa ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Sa isang press conference, sinabi ni Remulla, “A person of interest here is Congressman Eric Yap, who is known to be the beneficial owner of the company (Silverwolves),” na tumanggap umano ng pondo para sa proyekto ngunit hindi natapos ang konstruksyon.

Ang Silverwolves Construction Corporation ay isa sa dalawang kumpanyang isinangkot sa mga reklamong isinampa ng DPWH sa Office of the Ombudsman laban sa 21 opisyal ng ahensya at mga contractor. Kabilang sa mga proyekto ang ₱96.5 milyong halaga ng ghost projects sa Davao Occidental at dalawang phase ng flood control projects sa La Union na hindi natapos.

Bagama’t sinasabing nag-divest na si Yap sa Silverwolves ilang taon na ang nakalipas, sinabi ni Remulla na “there’s still reason to suspect that he’s still the beneficial owner of the company so there’s clear conflict of interest punishable also under RA 3019” o Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

Bukod kay Yap, binanggit din ni Remulla ang pangalan ng kanyang kapatid na si ACT-CIS Rep. Edvic Yap at si Bulacan Rep. Salvador Pleyto, na umano’y tumanggap ng pera sa pamamagitan ng bank transfers mula sa mga contractor na sina Curlee at Sarah Discaya, na may-ari ng St. Timothy Construction Corporation — isa pang kumpanyang sangkot sa mga substandard na proyekto.

Patuloy ang imbestigasyon ng Ombudsman sa mga anomalya sa flood control projects, na bahagi ng mas malawak na kampanya laban sa korapsyon sa DPWH.
