MANILA — Inihayag ng Department of Justice (DOJ) na magsusumite ito ng kahilingan sa International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) upang maglabas ng Blue Notice laban kay Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Elizalde “Zaldy” Co, na kasalukuyang nasa labas ng bansa.

Ayon kay DOJ spokesperson Assistant Secretary Mico Clavano, “The SOJ (Secretary of Justice) has already given the instructions to apply for a Blue Notice from the Interpol through our local offices. This is based on the investigation of the Blue Ribbon Committee as well as the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) recommendation to prosecute.”

Ang Blue Notice ay isang uri ng alerto na ginagamit upang mangalap ng karagdagang impormasyon tungkol sa pagkakakilanlan, lokasyon, o aktibidad ng isang indibidwal na sangkot sa imbestigasyon ng krimen. Hindi ito kapareho ng Red Notice, na ginagamit para sa extradition.

Lumabas sa imbestigasyon ng Senate Blue Ribbon Committee na si Co ay may kaugnayan sa mga iregularidad sa flood control projects sa bansa. Umalis umano si Co patungong Estados Unidos noong Hulyo 2025, ayon sa ulat ng Inquirer.net.

Sinabi ni Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla na, “Pag sinabi pong Blue Notice, ano lang po ‘yun to give us information on their whereabouts and how they’re going about their business. Ano ‘yan, para [siyang] person of interest, because with the Interpol being notified that they are subjects of an investigation, of a criminal investigation”.

Sa ngayon, wala pang opisyal na kaso ang isinampa laban kay Co, ngunit patuloy ang koordinasyon ng DOJ sa Interpol upang matunton ang kanyang kinaroroonan at mas mapalalim ang imbestigasyon.
